01 · MEMBRANE SYSTEMPVC / PVDF Membrane
Premium coated architectural membrane with a clean finish and waterproofing capability when the approved system is correctly detailed.
CLICK FOR COMPLETE DETAILS →
What is PVC/PVDF membrane?
A polyester base fabric is coated with PVC for strength and weather protection, then finished with a PVDF surface layer to improve cleanability, color retention and resistance to dirt and environmental exposure. Product composition varies by manufacturer and approved grade.
Key performance benefits
- Suitable for waterproof parking canopies when seams, slopes, edges and drainage are correctly engineered.
- Strong architectural appearance with smooth tensioned surfaces and multiple color options.
- Project grades can be selected for UV resistance, tensile strength, fire classification and warranty requirements.
- Heat-welded or approved fabricated seams help create continuous membrane panels.
- Can be tensioned over cantilever steelwork using project-approved plates, cables, profiles and hardware.
Best suited for
Commercial parking, corporate facilities, hospitals, schools, industrial sites and premium villa projects requiring a refined, weather-protective membrane finish.
02 · BREATHABLE SHADE CLOTHKnitted HDPE
Breathable shade cloth focused on solar/UV reduction, heat ventilation and practical large-area coverage.
CLICK FOR COMPLETE DETAILS →
What is knitted HDPE?
HDPE shade cloth is manufactured from high-density polyethylene yarn in a knitted construction. It reduces direct solar exposure while allowing air movement and controlled rain penetration, helping heat escape from below the canopy.
Key performance benefits
- Breathable construction supports natural ventilation beneath parked vehicles.
- Practical for villa, school, employee, commercial and large parking areas.
- Available in different shade factors, GSM weights, colors and manufacturer warranty levels.
- Flexible fabric can be shaped and tensioned for cantilever, pyramid, sail and other systems.
- Generally lighter and more economical than coated waterproof membrane systems.
Important fire and UV note
UV block percentage, shade factor, tensile properties and warranty must come from the selected manufacturer’s certified datasheet. Standard knitted HDPE should not be described as fire-retardant unless the exact approved product has a valid fire-test classification.
03 · HIGH-PERFORMANCE MEMBRANEPTFE Membrane
Premium architectural membrane option for selected projects requiring enhanced durability, cleanability and specification compliance.
CLICK FOR COMPLETE DETAILS →
What is PTFE membrane?
PTFE architectural membrane commonly uses a woven glass-fibre base coated with polytetrafluoroethylene. It is specified for demanding tensile structures where long-term surface stability, fire performance and premium architectural quality are priorities.
Key performance benefits
- High resistance to UV exposure, weathering and many environmental contaminants.
- Low-surface-energy finish helps reduce dirt adhesion and supports easier cleaning.
- Suitable for large and prestigious architectural projects subject to approved engineering.
- Selected systems can provide strong fire-performance classifications.
- Stable premium appearance with controlled translucency depending on product grade.
Project considerations
PTFE requires specialist patterning, fabrication, packaging, installation and tension control. It is generally a higher-cost solution than HDPE or PVC/PVDF and should be selected with the consultant and approved manufacturer.
04 · STEEL PROTECTION SYSTEMHDG + Epoxy Steel
Corrosion-protection option combining hot-dip galvanizing with an approved epoxy/top-coat system where project conditions require it.
CLICK FOR COMPLETE DETAILS →
How the duplex protection works
After fabrication and required inspection, structural steel is hot-dip galvanized to provide a zinc protective layer. Where specified, compatible surface preparation and an approved epoxy/intermediate/top-coat system are then applied to achieve the required color and additional environmental protection.
Quality-control points
- Steel grade, weld quality and fabricated dimensions checked before finishing.
- Galvanizing preparation includes vent/drain detailing and surface condition review.
- Galvanizing thickness and coating system verified against the approved specification.
- Compatible preparation is required before applying epoxy over galvanized steel.
- Site damage, cut edges and installation touch-ups follow the approved repair procedure.

Mosque Courtyard Tensile Shade FAQs.
Final answers depend on approved geometry, membrane grade and engineering scope.
Why is form-finding required?
A tensile membrane carries load through curvature and pretension. Form-finding establishes an equilibrium shape before steel, patterns and connections can be finalized.
Which membrane is recommended?
PVC/PVDF, PTFE and HDPE serve different requirements. Waterproofing, fire, UV, tensile performance, appearance, warranty and budget determine selection.
Can the structure be designed for 190 KPH?
Yes, when specified and included in scope. Higher wind criteria can change membrane forces, steel, cables, anchors and foundations.
How is rainwater controlled?
Curvature, high/low points, valleys, gutters and outlets are engineered to avoid ponding and direct water to approved discharge points.
What documents are available?
Depending on scope: design criteria, calculations, shop drawings, patterning, material data, certificates, method statement, ITP, lifting plan and handover records.
How long does delivery take?
Programme follows purchase order, advance, design approval, material availability, fabrication complexity, site readiness and erection access.
What warranty is provided?
Coverage depends on the approved membrane manufacturer, steel/coating system, workmanship, exposure and contract terms.
